Yoox Net-a-Porter follows fashion towards data analytics
In a first for the firm, online fashion retailer Yoox Net-a-Porter (YNAP) has hired a chief data and analytics officer, as it jumps onboard the trend towards using advanced data analytics to drive a “better service for customers”. This is the latest move in a larger strategy of “tech first” investment for the company, following the debut of its West London technology hub in the middle of last year.
YNAP’s West London tech hub marked the start of a new strategy
Alessia Kosagowsky, the newly created position’s first incumbent, is an industry heavyweight. Currently, she’s serving as vice president of global customer analytics for luxury retailer Burberry, as well as being the advisory board member on business analytics for Imperial College London. In her new role, she’ll be working closely with CIO Alex Alexander and the technology team.
Irene Boni, co-chief operating officer, made the following comment over Kosagowsky’s appointment: “With 20 years of experience in data and analytics, Alessia is a true leader in the field. What has impressed us most about Alessia is her ability to design teams and analytical solutions, developing approaches that are fit for the maturity of the organisation while being future-proofed for organic evolution.”
The last few years have seen UK businesses step up their game when it comes to data analytics. Retailers in particular have realised that the gargantuan amount of data created from everyday operations is a goldmine when it comes to enhancing the customer experience and driving higher sales. YNAP will hope to join the biggest and best of them by applying the same logic to online fashion sales.
Dominion holds YNAP in its Global Trends Luxury Fund.
