Xylem Inc. recognised as a world changer
Every year, Fortune Magazine releases a list of the 50 companies that are having the most significant social impact through their “core business strategy.” This year’s 2018 Change The World list features a worthy new addition: global water technology company, Xylem Inc. The company was featured in seventh position for its innovative technological solutions to the many water problems we face worldwide.

Fortune’s list is in its fourth year, and uses unique factors to rank companies, such as measurable social impact, corporate integration, degree of innovation, and business results. In Xylem’s case, Fortune particularly praised the company for its ongoing work to help strengthen cities resistance to climate change and other water disasters. It also noted Xylem’s part in rescuing the Thai football team that was trapped in a cave earlier this year.
Xylem’s president and CEO, Patrick Decker, commented on Xylem’s inclusion in the list, and was obviously glad that so much of the company’s work had been publicly recognised. He said:
“At Xylem, we are privileged to operate in an industry where we pioneer innovative approaches and technologies that are not only core to our business, but also have a lasting impact on communities. We are honored to be recognized by FORTUNE as a company that is driving social impact - a testament to the work of Xylem’s nearly 17,000 colleagues who are committed to making water safer, more accessible and more affordable for people and communities around the world. Our global mission of solving water is rooted in our purpose as an enterprise, which is to create both social and economic value in all that we do.”
