Walt Disney and Panasonic form alliance
Walt Disney’s parks provide children and families from all over the world the chance to experience something magical when they head to their sites. Now, the American company have agreed a deal with Panasonic that will see them provide the official projection technology in the company’s parks.
As part of the Disney experience, as well as providing leisure facilities, scary rollercoasters and great dining spaces, people expect to see spectacular shows when they pay their money to get into their parks. As you can imagine, these shows, often at night, can require a lot of high-tech equipment to run smoothly, with lots of projection and lighting equipment too, it would seem.
This new arrangement, which was announced at CES 2017 in Las Vegas, will give Disney access to Panasonic’s market-leading projectors that have both advanced image processing and lens solutions.
A press release from the two companies said:
‘As a leader in storytelling, Disney creates innovative attractions, entertainment and magical lands which immerse guests into the worlds of the stories they love. The aim of pairing Disney’s limitless creativity with Panasonic’s leading-edge projection technology, is to provide guests of Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort with even more amazing and new entertainment experiences.’
There has been a long-running relationship between Panasonic and the American entertainment giants, with their technology already used as part of the Finding Nemo submarine voyage as well as Haunted Mansion and Seven Dwarfs mine train attractions.
Yasuji Enokodo, president of Panasonic’s AVC networks, said: “Panasonic is delighted to work with Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort in exploring new ways in which its high-performance projectors may be used to support the Disney storytelling that has captured the hearts of millions of guests who have visited these iconic vacation destinations.
“The Panasonic brand has earned the trust of generations and today we have a fresh technology vision to support the creativity and innovation of the Disney theme parks in the U.S.”
Carlos Castro, vice president of Disney corporate alliances, said: “Disney creates one-of-a-kind, world-class experiences which inspire guests to create unique and cherished memories at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort.
