Veganuary gets underway down under at Domino’s Pizza
Domino’s Pizza has entered into the spirit of “Veganuary” down under. The Australian arm of the global pizza company has launched its first vegan offerings.
In the wake of a survey conducted by Domino’s on it’s Facebook page the company has rolled out three vegan choices alongside the rest of it’s menu, the Vegan Avocado Veg (avocado, roasted peppers, mushrooms, red onion, olives and spring onion), the Vegan Spicy Trio (baby spinach, fresh tomato, red onion and chilli flakes) and a vegan Margherita.
The sauces and bases at Domino’s are already vegan so the company says that any of their vegetarian choices can be made vegan by requesting the vegan cheese. The cheese, produced by Follow Your Heart, has the same melting quality, texture and taste as cheese produced from dairy according to Chief Executive Officer of Domino’s Australia and New Zealand Nick Knight, who also said “This is also great news for people with allergies and food sensitivities as it contains no dairy, gluten, or soy”.
At the moment Domino’s vegan adventure in Australia is only for a limited time but comes at a time when veganism is in the Zeitgeist with companies like Tesco, Ocado and Pret a Manger all rolling out new vegan options in the last few weeks.
Domino’s Pizza which is the world’s second largest pizza chain (after Pizza Hut), had it’s Credit Suisse stock rating increased last week having added nearly 6% to it’s share value over the last 30 days. A survey carried out by Credit Suisse found that of the 1000 U.S. consumers asked 77% had not changed how often they orders pizza from the company despite the advent of 3rd party delivery services which had concerned some observers.
Dominion holds Domino’s Pizza in its Global Trends Managed Fund.
