Live Nation prepares for Woodstock 50 in partnership with Bethel Woods

Analysts might wonder what the stand-out events of 2019 will be. Music fans already know about at least one: the 50th celebration of the original Woodstock festival. Few festivals have captured the public attention more than Woodstock, and this year’s “pan-generational music, culture and community event” will be taking place in the same location as the original, Bethel Woods in Bethel. Behind this event? Market-leading live entertainment specialist Live Nation, in conjunction with the Bethel Woods Center For The Arts and marketing group INVNT.

Live Nation is planning ahead – Woodstock’s 50th isn’t slated to arrive until the weekend of August 16 - 18. It’s a three-day event, and will feature live performances “from prominent and emerging artists spanning multiple genres and decades, and TED-style talks from leading futurists and retro-tech experts.” Visitors will also be able to attend the Museum and Bethel Woods and take in a special 2019 exhibit We Are Golden: Reflections On The 50th Anniversary Of The Woodstock Festival And Aspirations For An Aquarian Future.

The event’s line-up hasn’t been released yet. The original Woodstock saw performances from Jimi Hendrix, The Band, Grateful Dead, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Jefferson Airplane, Santana, and Richie Havens.

Darlene Fedun, Bethel Center’s CEO, said: “We are thrilled to partner with Live Nation and INVNT to produce Bethel Woods Music and Culture Festival. Fifty years ago, people gathered peacefully on our site inspired to change the world through music. As the stewards of this historic site, we remain committed to preserving this rich history and spirit, and to educating and inspiring new generations to contribute positively to the world through music, culture, and community.”
