Live Nation and Hulu reveal new VR series
Virtual reality has been on the cards for a number of years, with people predicting decades ago that the technology would come into existence and revolutionise many areas of society and technology. Now, Live Nation are continuing to use the technology to create a new ‘docu-series’ with Hulu’s on demand service.
Creating spectacular and immersive experiences for people all over the world is something that Live Nation has strived to provide since they were founded back in 2010. They have provided concerts, tours and performances of the world’s biggest stars to every continent on the planet.
However, recently they have been spending a lot of time and resources on seeing how they can bring these spectacular experiences to more than just the amount of people who managed to get gig tickets.
Now, the Los Angeles-based entertainment company have revealed a new series of content, On Stage, which will take a deep dive into the creative process of artists and their live music performances. This series is going to be played through Hulu’s virtual reality platform, as they look to capture and immerse music and entertainment fans from all over the world.
Linda Ge, writing in The Wrap, said: ‘The series will go beyond the headlines and artists’ hit songs and take the viewer on a journey of what inspires them on and off the stage.’
A press release from Live Nation has stated that the first episode of the series is set to air on 26 January, and will focus on Lil Wayne, the dreadlocked, tattooed New Orleans rapper who is a major figure in hip hop music. The second instalment of the series will be available later in the year and will focus on Major Lazer.
Noah Heller, vice president of emerging technology at Hulu, said: “Virtual Reality is an entirely new medium, and On Stage is a first-of-its kind premium music experience. Our partnership with Live Nation, a company that is synonymous with connecting music fans with their favorite artists, has allowed us to create an experience where you, the fan, are on the stage for the performance, and backstage with the artist. The result is a highly intimate experience that you cannot find anywhere else.”
