Lindt digs deeper to capture travel spend
Luxury chocolatier Lindt & Sprüngli (Lindt) is launching a new range of travel retail-exclusive products in a bid to dominate duty free purchases. The headline product, which will be unveiled at next month’s TFWA World Exhibition, is the Lindt Swiss Masterpieces Diamond Edition. It contains 15 pralines, and is presented in a white box embellished with sparkles. The product has been designed, according to Lindt, in direct answer to consumer demand for “additional premium gifting options” and “complements its core range” of confectionary.

Lindt’s focus on the duty free world is not a great surprise. The company has posted double-digit growth and an increase in market share across all its duty free regions so far this year. Additionally, according to Generation Research, Lindt was “the best performing and fastest growing confectionery supplier in 2016 and in the first half of 2017.”
Lindt’s head of global duty free, Peter Zehnder, said:
“We are really looking forward to this year’s event and can’t wait to share our new product range with our customers. Premium gifting is an important pillar of the Lindt sales strategy and we firmly believe that our new products make the perfect gift purchase as well as showcasing the prodigious skills of our Master Chocolatiers.
“This year, we really want to encapsulate our message of bringing the magic of Lindt alive. As ever, we welcome this annual opportunity to cement relationships with our partners and meet up with familiar faces across our global and regional accounts.”
Dominion holds Lindt & Sprüngli in its Global Trends Luxury Fund.
