Eurofins Scientific acquires Dermatest
Worldwide laboratory group Eurofins Scientific has acquired Australian sunscreen and skin care evaluation laboratory Dermatest. Announcing the acquisition at the end of August, Eurofins said that it hopes to use its experience providing analytic testing services to the pharmaceutical, environmental, and consumer industries to help raise Dermatest’s profile in the Australian and Asia Pacific markets.

Dermatest was established in 1997, and in the years since, it has become Australia’s leading sunscreen and skin care evaluation laboratory. According to Eurofins, both the company and its CEO, John Stanton, are highly regarded in the sun protection field. Yann Augustin, Eurofins’ consumer products testing managing director for South Europe, said:
“Apart from providing Eurofins with a very good entry into the cosmetic testing market in Australia, Dermatest will allow Eurofins to become the worldwide reference in sunscreen testing, increasing our portfolio and strengthening our current expertise and capabilities in Europe. We are eager to contribute to Dermatest’s development position in itsmarket, as well as expanding the portfolio of tests it offers to customers by offering the full range of services and capabilities of the Eurofins network.”
