Eurofins becomes Irish market leader in environment testing services
Eurofins Scientific, the global laboratory group that services the food and pharmaceutical industries amongst others, has recently become the Irish market leader in environmental testing services. The company acquired City Analysts Ltd. (“City”), which is a leading provider of accredited water chemistry and microbiological testing services in the country. It marks another step in Eurofins massively successful acquisition strategy, and the conquering of yet another market.

City is a rarity in Ireland, as it provides a mobile service laboratory throughout the country which offers a wide range of services. In addition to cryptosporidium analysis and toxicity testing (for which it is an accredited centre of excellence), the company also offers top class analysis in some niche areas of water testing: aquatic microbiology, toxicology and parasitology, and more. The company has strong links to the Irish pharmaceutical industry, and will add specialist testing facilities in Dublin and Clare to Eurofins existing network.
This is the company’s second acquisition in Ireland over the last twelve months. Taken in tandem with Eurofins’ purchase of ELS (Environmental Laboratory Services), the global laboratory analysts are the country’s clear market leader.
Eurofins CEO Dr. Gilles Martin, made the following statement:
“We are extremely pleased to welcome City Analysts and ELS to the Eurofins Group. These acquisitions, together with the expansion of our Dungarvan facilities, are an example of our commitment to Ireland and they reinforce Eurofins’ environment testing portfolio and expand the range of services offered to our clients. The City Analysts team is an excellent addition to the Eurofins family of businesses.”
“They share our commitment to quality, customer focus, team spirit and integrity, ensuring that our customers continue to benefit from our trusted support but with even more capabilities. Bringing colleagues from City Analysts together with ELS means we can extend our range of services and maximise the benefits we can bring to our Irish clients.”
