Estee Lauder looks to Chinese travellers with largest ever travel retail store NY opening

Global cosmetics giant Estee Lauder has opened its renovated flagship at China Duty Free Group’s Haitang Bay International Shopping Complex. The store – which is Estee’s largest travel retail location – boasts a 1,510 square foot presence which has been redesigned to offer a “fresh, dynamic, and welcoming environment.” On 20 December, the group celebrated the opening, and the start of Chinese New Year season, with an “exclusive appearance” by Asia Pacific spokesmodel Yang Mi.

Estee Lauder welcomed over a thousand shoppers, KOLs (Key Opinion Leaders) and members of the press to the location in December, as popular Chinese actress and singer Yang Mi debuted her limited-edition beauty set. Chinese consumers will have the option to explore the brand’s “hero skincare, make-up and fragrance collections” at the exhibition space, which will remain Chinese New Year-themed throughout the season.

Estée Lauder Travel Retail Worldwide Senior Vice President, Raffaella Cornaggia, said: “We are thrilled to bring Estée Lauder’s dynamic and immersive retail experience to Haitang Bay. As we mark this milestone for the brand, we are proud to bring our consumers such a memorable moment with the beautiful Yang Mi and a chance to take home her beauty favourites to ensure they travel beautifully wherever their journey takes them.”

The new store is designed to showcase both the latest trends in cosmetics as well as travel essentials for tourists that like to look their best. Yang Mi revealed to listeners what her own beauty regime included and explained how to get the most out of travel.

In a press release, Sanya International Duty Free Complex deputy general manager Xie Zhiyong, added: “China Duty Free Group is proud to partner with Estée Lauder to open the brand’s new travel retail flagship here in Haitang Bay. We’re confident the brand’s engaging, innovative retail experience, coupled with their iconic collections of skincare, make-up and fragrance products will make Estée Lauder a must-stop destination here in Sanya.”
