Dominion speaks at intersection between fashion and ecommerce
Dominion’s market development director James Greco recently spoke at Netcomm Suisse’s annual event ‘e-commerce meets fashion in the Ticino Fashion Valley’. This day of talks has fast become a ‘must attend’ event for anyone interested in the intertwined future of these two trends, and includes speakers from some of the world’s biggest fashion brands (like Coach and VF Corp) and some of the world’s biggest e-commerce companies (such as Google).
The extent to which e-commerce is transforming the fashion sector is both undeniable and unprecedented. A combination of the latest technology and changing consumer habits have pushed fashion into a new, online, world typified by greater choice, a smaller lag-time between the catwalk and the consumer, and razor sharp logistics. Companies like Inditex (parent of brands like Zara and Massimo Dutti) leverage consumer data from in-store metrics to respond instantly to shifting tastes, and make these new trends available worldwide with the click of a button. Companies like Yoox-Net-a-Porter and Zalando have leveraged the huge retail power of the internet solely for fashion.
As a pioneer of both luxury investing and e-commerce investing, Dominion has deep interest in the impact e-commerce is having on the fashion world. So it makes absolute sense that Dominion would be present at Netcomm Suisse’s event. Mr. Greco says:
