Dominion speaks at ‘Ecommerce meets Fashion’ must-see event

On March 13, Netcomm Suisse Ecommerce Association will host a ‘must-see’ event for anyone interested in fashion online: “e-Commerce meets Fashion in the Ticino Fashion Valley”. The event, now in its third edition, will see big names from fashion, finance, and digital, congregate to examine the intersection of these two incredibly powerful trends. Amongst those speaking will be senior members of VF Corp, Coach, Benetton, Google, KPMG, and Dominion’s market development director, James Greco.

Mr. Greco will speak directly after Jacqueline Ruedin Rüsch, founder and CEO of Privilège Management, who work with Dominion in Switzerland, and are co-sponsoring the event alongside them. The title of his talk is “investing in e-Commerce and Fashion: from listed companies to future IPOs”. Dominion has a wealth of experience in this area: today, it is the only fund manager in existence that operates a dedicated global e-Commerce fund, and it was amongst the first to create a luxury fund, of which fashion is a central theme.

e-Commerce is disrupting the world of retail at an unprecedented pace– and that applies to fashion as much as any other sector. Dominion’s Ecommerce Fund Manager, Fred Baccanello, made the following statement:

“It is too late enough to pay lip service to modernity and say that e-Commerce will change retail, it already has. Globally we see in-store retail suffer while e-Commerce goes from strength to strength. In the UK, one of the most developed e-Commerce markets, we observed online consumer spending increase +15% in February while in-store stagnated at +0.2%. This pattern is repeating globally as we see falling sales and a slew of bankruptcies at well-known brands that have not adapted to the world changing ecommerce megatrend. It is no exaggeration to say those without a strong ecommerce offering will soon find themselves without a business.”

With the rise of massive online retailers like Amazon, and dedicated e-Commerce fashion sites like Yoox-Net-a-Porter and Zalando, the fashion industry is particularly ripe for further disruption. Millennial consumers, who are digitally literate and highly fashion conscious, have now reached full spending power, and this strongly indicates that the future of fashion – whether premium or accessible – is online.

A wide variety of other notable speakers will address audiences at the event, including senior academics, government officials, digital experts, and fashion industry experts. For those not able to attend the event in person, content from the day will be made available following its conclusion.

Given that this is an unmissable opportunity to listen to the best and brightest minds across both sectors discuss the future of fashion in the digital era, we will be bringing you more content as and when it becomes available.
