Compass Group adds Michelin-starred chef as brand culinary director
Compass Group has added a top-name chef to the business, who will manage “culinary development, supply chain and culinary training” across two of the company’s brands. David Simms, a Michelin-starred chef, has a history at Compass, having previously served as group hospitality executive chef between 2005 and 2016. This time, he’ll be employed as culinary director at Restaurant Associates and Levy Leisure.

Simms, who rejoins Compass after a stint as managing director at Corrigan Collection, is eager to stamp his mark on the two brands he will work on. He said: “Restaurant Associates has a rich culinary heritage, serving many of Britain’s most prestigious organisations. I’m looking forward to working side-by-side with our clients and our talented chefs to continue delivering top quality dining offers.”
Simms will report directly to Restaurant Associates and Levy Leisure’s managing director Alice Woodwark. Outlining the value he will bring to the company, she said:
“David brings significant culinary kudos to our team and truly reinforces our position as the leaders in food service and innovation. He has a wealth of Michelin Star restaurant experience, a passion for training and talent development, and a genuinely innovative approach to food service. We’re thrilled to welcome him back to our team.”
