Assa Abloy wireless handle wins 2018 Innovative Achievement Award
Assa Abloy, the world’s market leader in secure lock and door products, is continuing to innovate the space, increasingly turning to connectivity and biometrics to create the most advanced physical security products to date. This year, that’s been recognised, as one of the company’s smartest pieces of tech – the Aperio H100 electronic handle – received Detektor International’s Innovative Achievement Award 2018. The company says that this product brings the “power and flexibility” of wireless access control to the door handle.

The H100 handle can, apparently, be easily retrofitted to “almost any” interior door. It has an inbuilt credential reader that can integrate with third-party access systems, meaning it can tell who should be allowed to enter any room and liaise with a business’s own security system to enable (or disable) it. It’s subtle, powerful, and ultimately gives business owners the ability to dictate who goes where on a room-for-room basis – all from the comfort of their own seat. It’s also, according to Magnus Baeckstrom, the company’s business unit manager for digital handle locks in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, a sign of things to come.
Baeckstrom, who collected the award in person, said: “The recipe for our very successful product is 6 tablespoons of digital handle experience based on our Code Handle Door device, 4 tablespoons of Aperio global wireless access control leadership, and topped with a couple of teaspoons of ASSA ABLOY contemporary design. The result is powerful access control functionality in the simple form of a handle. No wiring is needed, and the H100 can work with an online access control system or offline. We are especially thrilled the jury recognized the product design. This is just one device, part of a much broader approach you will increasingly see with ASSA ABLOY designs.”
