Amadeus adds Premier Inn to hotel services – Intercontinental next
Travel IT guru Amadeus has added Premier Inn to the list of names using its hotel management system. The company said that the hotel group would be using its combined central reservation system, property management system, and its payment system across 765 properties. Premier Inn is a big win, but an even bigger one is waiting in the wings: Intercontinental Hotels (IHG), which will sign up to Amadeus’ systems by 2019.

Premier Inn will be using more of Amadeus’ software than IHG – at least at first – and as such, it will be a great example of how Amadeus’ cloud-based subscription service can benefit hospitality businesses. Amadeus’ chief financial officer, Ana de Pro, said:
“What’s good about the Premier Inn deal is that they’re taking all of our modules. It will be a reference customer that helps us in showing to the industry that our integrated cloud-based modular solutions do work if you take all of them. But other customers, such as IHG, only take the guest reservation module, and that works, too.”
One of the real selling points of Amadeus’ system is its ability to facilitate up-sells. In theory, its cloud base means it will be able to share information between systems (something it has been unable to do previously). This means customers can be targeted based on a number of demographic considerations for relevant promotions. This is good news for hotels and customers both, and puts Amadeus in a powerful position to court more custom following the Premier and IHG deals.
