Shimano unveil new European head office

Shimano are one of the biggest names in the global cycling and bike equipment market. And now the Japanese firm have shown their continued commitment to excellence as well as expansion in Europe with the unveiling of their new European head office.

They are recognised as one of the leading suppliers of not just high profile cycling equipment, but fishing tackle and rowing equipment too. And, they are determined to carry on growing off the back of success in recent year.

To aid this, they have built a brand new, state-of-the-art European head office in Eindhoven, Holland. The building, which will host Shimano’s 180 European employees, has been called a ‘centre of excellence’ by the company’s president, Yozo Shimano.

He said: “This new start in the center of intelligence here at the High Tech Campus will give Shimano a greater opportunity to thrive and contribute to the prosperity of the European bicycle, fishing and rowing world.”

The new site is eco-friendly, with things like rooftop solar panels, which provide the facility with hot water. The majority of workspace is open-plan and the large glass exterior of the building is made of glass that lets a lot of natural light into it.

Shimano Europe President, Marc Van Rooij, said: “In this region one can’t fail to see the strong entrepreneurial spirit, real enthusiasm between companies and their people, and the collaborative affection and winners’ mentality that Eindhoven and the High Tech Campus offer Shimano.

"We intend to make use of these ingredients to make our company more successful in the near and long term, expanding the potential of what’s possible between the bike and the rider, an angler and their fishing tackle, or a rower and their boat. I am convinced that the surroundings at the High Tech Campus will offer us the opportunities to realize these challenges.”
