Mandarin Oriental to open second luxury property in Dubai

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has announced that it will manage a second luxury property in Dubai, with opening slated for late 2020. The new location in downtown Dubai will compliment Mandarin’s existing property in the country, Mandarin Oriental Jumeira Beach – an urban resort still under construction that is expected to open next year. Both hotels are owned by wasl Asset Management Group, and this announcement points to what Mandarin thinks is a strong hospitality market.

The new property will have 257 “spacious and contemporary guestrooms, suites and serviced apartments” that overlook downtown Dubai, and provide views of the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa. The mood of the hotel will reflect both local cultures and contain Asian influences from Mandarin’s roots. On the tower’s upper floors, the company will manage a further 144 residences that “will provide some of the most luxurious private homes in the city.”

The hotel will also benefit from Mandarin Oriental’s experience working with top chefs to create award-winning restaurants. A variety of eateries and bars will be situated in the building, including a “lively rooftop sky bar with citywide views”, unique and all-day dining experiences, a number of lounges, a cake shop and a cigar room.
